Fancy great Georgian food but don’t have the time to visit Georgia? Me either…
DEDA (mother in Georgian) is a family restaurant with 3 cozy branches (2 at Bat Yam, in the south of Tel Aviv, and Givatayim) that serves classic yummy dishes with lots of meat, greens (herbs) and love. Dumpling with tender meat, grill dishes, stews with walnut sauces (yes!) or with 11 different herbs, 7 baked pastries (with eggs, cheese or meat) that include my (and my family’s) favorites – crispy fried pastries – kvari (cheese) and chebureki (meat).
So there are not lots of options for vegans or vegetarians (Nanuchka in Lilienblum converted to only vegan dishes a few years ago – I didn’t like it), but for meat lovers this is a great place to hang out at.
And a last tip- I always ask for a red sauce with my Kvari (it has a name, but its tooo long, but if you ask for the red sauce they will understand) – a spicy refreshing tomato sauce.
