Little Big House is so much more than a hostel. In winter and in summer, this is the place that makes me feel like I am travelling without actually leaving the city. First because it is situated in Ano Poli (check the article here), an area that looks like a suburb and it is not, in which time has stood still. And second because it is a meeting place with an international aura.
Simply by spending a Sunday morning on the beautiful terrace, reading a book or gazing at the small houses around, the rooftops and the stone-paved street, I am as refreshed as I if had spent the whole day in the countryside. Also because I can sit on one of the picnic tables and lounge chairs.
No wonder why Little Big House sends you to planet Happy! It’s a place where local people, mostly students, hang out, so there’s always a cheery atmosphere. Moreover, you can meet travellers which stay there or stop by for a drink, so there is always an opportunity to hear interesting stories and practice your language skills. You might as well play one of the available board games totally for free.
A few words on how it works: note that the cafe is self-service. In the mornings, a per-person breakfast is served for € 2, which is worth it. Don’t miss on tasting my beloved sour cherry juice.
