Terkenlis – White chocolate and chestnut tsoureki

Nowadays it’s the most “guilty secret” of the whole of Greece…the Terkenlis name!

Maybe you have already discovered it, by the enticing smells of the cooked Tsoureki in the corner of Aristotelous square and Tsimiski street, which is the first store that Terkenlis open in 1948, and ok, maybe it isn’t a secret spot, but you have to try the tsoureki filled with chestnut and covered with white chocolate.

But what is Tsoureki? It’s a sweet type of braided bread which is traditionally served in Greece to celebrate Easter, but the Thessalonicians can taste it all year long!
I would recommend you visit the recently renovated store at the corner of Agias Sofias and Mitropoleos, where you can find a variety of products, such as cold sandwiches, and even lunch, but the point is to try the white chocolate tsoureki filled with chestnut. You can order the small size, which is very satisfying for 1, and the perfect size to share!

In case that you liked it and you want to take a whole tsoureki back home, don’t rush to buy it – at the airport you can find a store after the security check, and there you can buy it before you leave town!
