Poutini’s is just such a classic place for me. Since it opened over five years ago, I’ve eaten a Poutine there pretty much every week. (Yes… seriously…) Aside from me though, there is quite a very loyal following. It has a strong rivalry with another well known Poutinerie in town, evoking almost “Capulet and Montague” feelings among many Torontonians. (Usually rearing its ugly head in late night drunken squabbles.)
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Poutine, it is a truly delicious combo of french fries, gravy and cheese curds heralding from Quebec, a province in Canada, although Canada in general has wholeheartedly adopted it as its national dish.
My current favourite available at Poutini’s is topped with maple syrup and bacon, but you certainly can’t go wrong with any of the others on the menu, especially my other go-to, the pulled pork topped poutine. Rounding it out with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options they really can almost satisfy any dietary requirements. The fact that you can get it after the bars close is a bonus. The line late at night can be well out the door, but it goes pretty fast and is a great opportunity to make some new friends. They’ve even catered weddings of people who have met in that line!
A second location is also now open at King & Portland!
