I’ve been fascinated by the marine world since I was a toddler, and deep-water inhabitants have been a source of artistic inspiration for me ever since. The world of deep waters may seem unreachable when I spend too much time at my desk, but in Ripley’s Aquarium, however, it is possible to see the creatures that usually live hundreds of meters below the water surface. The architecture of the Aquarium is as surprising and unexpected as the creatures that live there. There are water tanks, tubes and cylinders. There is a hall where the fish tank is right above your head! There is also a pool that features plants that live on the surface of water!
The Aquarium is quite large, so I make sure I am wearing comfortable shoes when I go there. On the other hand, there are comfortable benches there to rest if needed. Sometimes I just settle on a bench next to one of the fish tanks and make sketches. Seeing fish, sea horses and other creatures swim by is somehow calming and energizing all at the same time.
Pro tip: the aquarium is opened 365 days of the year from 09:00 to 23:00, except for very rare exceptions. There are even live jazz concerts occasionally on Fridays!
