Every Wednesday evening from 18:00 – 21:00, Pacific Junction Hotel (a bar, not an actual hotel) comes alive as Secret Society, a local group of DJs and house music aficionados, records its weekly electronic music podcast live, aptly called the Secret Society Sessions.
PJH is an unusual space. There’s an actual radio studio behind a glass wall overlooking a softly lit, somewhat dive-y bar, with kitschy details such as Grolsch-branded bar stools, astroturf and foosball – and a crystal clear sound system, cheap drinks and a chill, eclectic crowd. And have I mentioned the music? Uplifting, melodic house music that will have you dancing into the evening and forgetting that it’s the middle of the week. In addition to the Sessions, the Secret Society guys also organize events at other locations around town that are worth watching out for.
PJH is on King Street, close to St. Lawrence Market and the Financial District and provides an amazing midweek diversion (though Thursday mornings have become somewhat challenging). And there’s no cover. So come on by and get in on the secret.
