My sister was about 5-6 months pregnant when she asked me to take her to a pottery workshop that she’d bought for herself at the Pottery. A small pottery studio found near Runnymede Road and Annette Street, the Pottery provides one-day workshops to full pottery classes for youth and adults.
There were a lot of first timers with clay during my workshop. Paul, the owner and our workshop instructor, told us to relax so that we don’t put too much pressure on the clay while it was spinning on the wheel. He said that the more you put pressure on the clay, the harder it is to control. After a while, I got the hang of it and made a small bowl and platter by the end of our workshop. It was a great learning experience with others in the community to make something out of clay; just your hands, a spinning wheel, a mound of clay and a whole lot of patience.
In case you want to save a little cash, once in a while the Pottery has vouchers on Groupon for the one-day classes or workshops. A great spot to spend quality time with your kids and let your inner artists/potters shine through!
