Dumplings are one of the most requested dish in every Chinese restaurant in Italy (beside rice and spring rolls). We like them both steamed and braised. Personally I love the braised ones.
But “Mu – Fusion Dumplings” is a different planet. Put some great Italian ingredients, a huge dose of creativity, a lot of umami, some stylish, neat and minimal wooden furniture and a central location and you’ll have that little gem that this spot is.
The menu is also minimal: 4 kinds of dumplings. 3 fixed (pork, shrimp and veggie) and one constantly changing monthly special. You choose how you want them cooked (steamed or braised) and everything is done.
Some branded water, great beers from Baladin artisanal brewery [see the article “Baladin- The house of beers” ] complete the scenery.
The staff is extremely delightful and kind. They made me try for free some traditional boiled dumplings made for their personal lunch while I waited for my raviolis, because the kitchen received a wrong order instead of mine.
Then my mixed dumplings arrived and I tasted every kind including the New Moon, the month’s special: Bologna, mascarpone cheese, saffron and crumbled pistachios.
That was my favourite, topped with both soy and spicy sauce.
I really liked everything about this little place, including the take-away option and the “pick them raw and cook them at home” choice.
Artisanal, local products and a great attention for details. A delicate spot for a food cuddle dedicated to your soul.
