The Fish Counter is an amazing little spot on Main Street that doubles as both a fish market and a seafood restaurant. They’re well known for their commitment to local, sustainable seafood and for their amazing fish tacos.
On the market side is a selection of fresh, local fish and seafood, and some of the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered. The man I usually find behind the counter knows everything about his products and is both enthusiastic and helpful. There is really great maple candied salmon, salmon jerky, and other fish-related products, sauces and sides.
Starting at 11:00, you can also eat in their restaurant where they sell fish and chips, seafood sandwiches and soups. But the tacos are the real highlight – served on warm, corn tortillas and piled up with fresh salsa, cilantro and spicy cream sauce. They’re $ 5.95 each or four for $ 20. I can eat them year round, but I highly recommend finding a seat outside in the summer and sharing a big tray with friends.
