A green sign and a queue that never ends, if you notice something like this you are probably standing outside Bacareto da Lele.
This spot is located in Campo dei Tolentini, close to Piazzale Roma, and not so far from the University Area. At lunch and happy hour it’s necessary to be patient to get a sandwich. The secret of this little bacaro are a few things; really good and really low cost and no tables inside, just the bar counter. It is difficult to find another spot in Venice where you can have a glass of wine for € 0.60 and a sandwich for € 1 or € 2.
Bacareto da Lele can easily be the first stop for a bacaro tour (one of the most traditional rituals to follow in Venice) because of its location: it is just beyond the first bridge you will cross when entering in Venice.
In addition to a lot of sandwiches with cold cuts, Lele cooks Venetian cicchetti such as baccalà.
Of course whatever you get here has to be eaten outside like real street food.
