Mercatino dei Granai – Shopping with a view

Mercatino dei Granai is a vintage and handicraft Market which takes place about every two months in Giudecca Island. Looks also count and this location is literally breathtaking. Stands are set inside The Granaries of the Republic built from the ruins of the Palazzo Dandolo and property of Hotel Belmond Cipriani.

The view from this side is amazing: the unique skyline of Venice! Handmade jewelry, vintage sunglasses, and vintage stands fill the halls of bricks adorned with enormous and magnificent Murano chandeliers.

The market opens on Sunday at 11:00 and in the afternoon around 17:00 the happy hour with live music starts. Entrance is free and I really recommend the sunset hour to take advantage of the changing colours of the skyline. The beauty sometimes has a price, and if you want to admire the sunset with a spritz you will pay € 6 (not so low cost).

But for once in your life you can do it.
