The reason I love Venice is that one could go on talking about it for hours...

First, let me say I am quite a gourmand, willing to try and enjoy all kind of foods, wherever I go, at anytime. But I know this can’t be, that’s why making good opportunities to eat particular things I like can be an interesting hobby. Pasticceria dal Mas and their “pizzette” makes things much easier, as it is at a strategic location, which justifies my frequent “stop and go”s while passing by.

In this ancient pastry shop, you can find all kind of Italian pastry products, but I think their wonderful and well praised “pizzette” (small round pizzas) are the biggest must. Pasticceria dal Mas is located on the most crowded spot of the entire city: a few steps away from the train station, on the direction to Strada Nuova, the main wide street heading to Rialto bridge and San Marco square. This is the part of street I have to go through every time I come back home from trips outside Venice, either by bus or by train.

Submitting to those small warm pizzas call is almost unavoidable. Their traditional basis is tomato sauce and mozzarella, and they can be topped by anchovies, olives, artichoke or salami. There are two kinds of pizzette, those made with puff pastry and those made with regular pizza pastry. I must confess it is still very hard for me to take sides in this battle, that’s is why I keep on testing both of them when I come back home from travelling!
