A necessary stop: I couldn’t find other words to describe Tonolo. Because this pastry shop is just a milestone for Venetians and Ca’ Foscari students (the University is close to the shop).
Tonolo is the better choice in every season and for every festivity. According to one of my friends here you can taste the best Venetian doughnut (frittella) during the Carneval. I literally go crazy for the sweet focaccia and my sister loves the St. Martin’s cake.
Tonolo pastry shop is also the best way to start the day with a classic Italian breakfast: espresso plus brioche. University students charge their ‘batteries’ here before lessons and exams.
What I really appreciate about this shop is that it still sells only original and traditional cakes. Unfortunately some of the pastry shops in the city centre have extended the confectionery to some colorful sweets that are not so Venetian (as they claim).
Tonolo is genuine, authentic and everything is really delicious.
