Akkordeonfestival – Listen to the “squeeze”!

This famous Accordion Festival has taken place in Vienna for around 19 years. And with every year it’s growing bigger! This year it’s taking place from 24.02. – 25.03.18

As my boyfriend – like many other Austrians – adores and plays this instrument, I was literally thrown into the music world of the nicknamed “Quetschn” (synonym: squeeze, crusher), as they call an accordion in Vienna. You probably have to be a maniac to visit all of the 50 concerts in the upcoming month…but with a festival pass you have the chance to hear many fantastic artists in many venues, like Porgy & Bess at Riemergasse, Vindobona, weird Schutzhaus Zukunft etc… So you get an insight of the great locations in Vienna! But of course you can also decide to go just for your favourite band.

Also this year artists will come from many countries like Finland, Romania, France, Poland… And of course from Austria, like famous Attwenger or Christian Bakanic.

Another special thing: there’s a silent movie matinee in the Filmcasino on each of the Sundays during the festival. Musicians provide live music while silent movies are shown.

Traditional or experimental, Austrian or global sound – I hope you will enjoy the “Quetschn“! Check out the programme for venues and concerts!
