Are you fed up of leaving these nouvelle cuisine restaurants constantly still starving? Well, then you should definitely choose the Centimeter for your next meal! Famous for its immense portions, the menu offers dishes like “two meters of wurst”, all sorts of meat pierced on a sword, or a whole wheelbarrow containing a broad variety of what the kitchen has to offer.
The name Centimeter descends from the fact that you order (and pay) cold or warm open-faced sandwiches by their length measured in centimeters.
Never make the mistake and order more than one dish per person at once. The potato soup might already be enough. The fingerfood, they promote as just an appetizer, is actually enough to sate me completely. Even in case you skip it and start directly with a main dish remember that the desserts will not be smaller!
I recommend you have an unobtrusive look at the dishes of other guests right away after entering, to get an idea of the actual dimensions. Beer as the common drink here underlines the ambience of an extraordinary inn.
The Centimeter to which I refer here is correctly called Centimeter VII. In Vienna there are some more: Centimeter I, next to the city hall (U2-station Rathaus), Centimeter II at Spittelberg close to Mariahilfer Strasse and Centimeter VI (opposite S-Bahn-station Gersthof). They all have the same opening times, the same dishes and offer both smoking- and non-smoking-areas.
Finally, just so you know: It’s absolutely common to ask for foil.
