Urban art – When sidewalks become galleries

Graffiti, Street Art, Urban Art…? Don’t even think about it! I’m not getting involved in the discussion, I’m just loving it when grey cities turn into something better, something more colorful, something joyful that brightens your day. Well, I’m also aware of the fact that after all it’s ART and with that it’s just the same as with beauty.

The photo here was taken at the Donaukanal next to Spittelau, anyone interested in biking or walking down that recreation canal, I suggest starting here, or even further north. Once you get to Schwedenplatz, you can rest in one of the many coffee shops, restaurants and bars around there – when it comes to cocktails, my pointer for you is: First Floor! 😉

But as this street art map shows, there are many more spots for you to enjoy beautified grey in Vienna. Another tip on where to get updates on Urban Art in the city is Blk River‘s site on the famous blue book.

The list found here makes no claim to be complete, a quick look at the dedicated flickr page or my Instagram is evidence of countless more burner pieces all over Vienna.
