I was pottering about in the 7th district when I saw a canopy jutting out onto Neustiftgasse. I suddenly remembered one of my friends had told me about this shop. This particular friend is both ecologically friendly and a lover of ice cream, so we have at least one and a half things in common. I simply love ice cream. Although, when we got talking about this place, it sparked a discussion. Does Veganista technically count as an ice cream parlour? A contradiction in terms: ice cream without cream.
I have to admit, I was skeptical at first. It takes a serious scoop of imagination to overcome the dairy deficit, but my friend told me all about the flavours that are on offer: chocolate, strawberry, (all normal so far, but wait!), oreo cookies, basil, matcha, and even a mad orange/olive oil/saffron infusion. Also, the fact remains that Veganista is great for those of us who love ice cream but have an eye on our fluctuating waistlines, and it means eating ice… confectionery is also possible for people with lactose intolerances.
So there you have it. The service is incredibly friendly, and asking for a cheeky spoon of all the flavours won’t result in a frown. In fact, I would recommend it. There are so many wonderful flavours, both dubious and delicious; a good tip is to try before you buy!
It’s really easy to get to, close to the U2/U3 station Volkstheater and the 48A bus. Check out their Facebook!
