Nepal lovers in Vienna know where to meet like-minded people. This restaurant’s been around for 16 years yet it is the only Nepalese eating spot in the city. The team provides their customers not just with food but also with Nepalese culture. Every now and then festivities take place – check their Facebook page for upcoming events!
At Yak & Yeti you can choose between a room where you sit at a table or one where you leave your shoes outside and sit on the floor, or rather some kind of platform. I recommend the latter for a special form of dining. Big groups might want to book in advance. No matter where you sit though, food is served on brazen plates, as is customary in Nepal.
Best time to enjoy authentic Nepalese style dinner is Tuesday, when it’s Dal Bhat evening. This national dish consists of rice, lentils, meat and vegetables which you would casually eat with your hands. Another one of their traditions: you can ask for a refill till you are blue in the face. Their gorgeous lunch buffet, Monday to Friday from 11:30 to 14:30, is only € 6.50 and mostly consists of vegan dishes, yet usually also two meat variations. And as if all this wasn’t enough already, they even present you with mini desserts.
I want to end with a wish you’ll see when leaving this spot tashi deleg! Which means “Blessings & good luck!”
