What might sound like the synopsis of another episode from The walking dead actually is an accurate description of what is awaiting you within one of the 9th district’s pearls: Zum schwarzen Schaf.
This black sheep came up with a brilliant idea: weirdly shaped or out-of-the-norm vegetables that, as a consequence of their appearance, would not be sold in local supermarkets, are processed and served in this very spot. But: if I wouldn’t be telling you, you wouldn’t have guessed – their food looks, smells and tastes super good.
Zum schwarzen Schaf is simply put a wickedly good spot for lunch. Every midday (from Mon – Fri) they serve two savoury meals, one of them includes meat. You’ll find the current offers online. Part of their lunch items come in Weck-jars put on extra colourful plates. All in all the food arrangement might bring one or another Oh!-moment to your lunch break and will make you enjoy it even more.
When it’s getting dark and Alsergrund’s wolves are howling this spot turns into a smooth bar that, apart from homemade lemonade, iced tea and a casual variety of wine and beer, serves Mezze and Tapas – potentially spoiling your taste buds and, most importantly, teaching us that black sheep sometimes are just the ones worth searching for.
