If you ask any Lithuanian what the favorite sport in Lithuania is, you’ll surely get the one and only answer – it is basketball! There even is a saying that basketball is a second religion in Lithuania. It seems that every single boy, man, girl or a lady is a master expert in the game.
I would say it is a great attraction to watch a game with us at home or in a bar, when any Lithuanian basketball club is playing in any big championship. It is very entertaining!
To prove how much love and passion Lithuanians really have for basketball we even built a statue for basketball. The statue depicts four hands holding up a basketball. The statue is engraved with 37 most honored basketball players and coaches of our country. The statue stands next to the Siemens arena, where the European basketball championship in 2011 was held.
