If you ask any Lithuanian what the favorite sport in Lithuania is, you’ll surely get the one and only answer – it is basketball! There even is a saying that basketball is a second religion in Lithuania. It seems that every single boy, man, girl or a lady is a master expert in the game.
I would say it is a great attraction to watch a game with us at home or in a bar, when any Lithuanian basketball club is playing in any big championship. It is very entertaining!
To prove how much love and passion Lithuanians really have for basketball we even built a statue for basketball. The statue depicts four hands holding up a basketball. The statue is engraved with 37 most honored basketball players and coaches of our country. The statue stands next to Siemens arena, where European basketball championship in 2011 was held.
