In the beginning of May all Lithuanian people are waiting for one of the most beautiful days of the year – “Street Musicians Day”. Thousands of people go out to the streets to play or listen to live music.
“Street Musicians Day” has a mission to unite all people who speak the world’s most universal language – the language of music. This is the day when a lot of professional and amateur musicians go out onto the streets, yards, parks and squares of Vilnius center to enjoy the diversity of live music.
This event is extraordinary and none of the musicians earn money that day, they come to the streets because they just love music and want to share it with the audience. Musicians play rock, classics, jazz, folklore, beat African rhythms and other styles of music. So, on “Street Musicians Day” you will always find something specific that will attract you.
“Street Musicians Day” was founded in 2007 by an exclusive Lithuanian musician, actor, photographer and well known public figure Andrius Mamontovas. He invites all music loving people to share and to listen a lot of live sounds.
The one day festival was started in Vilnius, but now it is also running in different Lithuanian regions and even abroad. I believe that one day “Street Musician Day” will become a worldwide music festival. Enjoy!
