OK. I’m addicted. I’m perfectly aware of that and, moreover, I don’t want to change it. I became addicted something like eight years ago. Till then I wasn’t really interested in sushi. And suddenly from a non-fish, non-raw person I become a sushi lover and I even learned how to prepare my own maki.
But in this case what is made at home is not always as good as what is made by a professional, so I was trying different sushi places in Warsaw (thank God that for almost 10 years now we’re experiencing a sushi madness. Seriously, it has become a traditional Warsaw dish).
And then I discovered Izumi.
When Izumi won the 2007 contest I had to try “the best sushi in Warsaw”. And this is how I became addicted. Why wouldn’t I? With melting, sweet, fried salmon skin maki? Or with carefully wrapped maki deep-fried in delicious tempura? Or with the funny combination of delicate tuna and spicy leeks? Or with fusion of a Philadelphia with a butter fish? Who wouldn’t become addicted?
As Warsaw has more sushi places per person than most of Europe’s capitals I have plenty of choices. For a long time Izumi Sushi was the only one I was going to. Recently I added Sushi Zushi on my list – a little competition is always good for customers!
P.S. Izumi’s chef – Alon Than – won the World Sushi Cup Japan in 2015 :).
