What makes winter magical? The holidays, the atmosphere, drinking warm cocoa wrapped in a blanket, ice-skating and sledding, winter songs and Christmas carols on the radio and in the stores, and lovely white snow of course! But wait – something is missing! But what? The lights of course! Holiday lights light up cities all around the world, they brighten up the dark winter months and bring a little sparkle into the otherwise short and gloomy days and the long, long nights.
Wilanów Palace (check the Pałac w Wilanowie article), a popular tourist destination in Warsaw (often forgotten by Varsovians themselves!), is making the Warsaw winter even more magical: enjoy the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland in lights! Twinkling cards, teapots, mushrooms and of course the Mad Hatter and his stopwatch. The Palace gardens also light and dance to classical music. ‘Gardens can dance?’ you ask. Go and see for yourself!
On the weekends you can also come to the Palace for a variety of art workshops for children and adults alike, it is also worth keeping a close eye on their website – if you’re lucky you will happen to be in Warsaw when there are special 3D mapping light shows done on the Palace itself!
It’s a nice little treat on a long evening, but (spoiler alert!) don’t expect toooo much. Just enjoy a bit of light in the dark winter!
