You probably already know that I am a foodie (it’s easy to deduce – just look at my other articles: all about food). And I really don’t lose my head for something average. So please believe me: Mamma Marietta is a treasure. Keep it to yourself. Then you will have a chance to try the best mozzarella di bufala in Warsaw (served with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil), amazing black ravioli with lobster (I am addicted to it), and stunning (and creamy) tiramisu. And if you are lucky they will have rabbit on the menu!
The owner wanted to recreate his memories of a childhood spent in Sicily, where his mum – Mrs. Marietta – prepared hearty Italian food.
And he did it so well that he was nominated for a “Warsaw’ restaurant of the year 2013” award. Luckily he didn’t win. I cannot imagine the crowd that would quickly fill up this small place. Because ‘Mamma Marietta’ is a true Sicilian restaurant – it’s very small, it’s better to book ahead.
(The menu changes according to the season and ingredients’ availability. It’s been six years since I first wrote this post and the food is only getting better with time, like a very good wine.)
