What I have been missing since I came back from Berlin to Warsaw is the relaxed way, in which the Germans spend their weekends: sitting on the grass in parks, sipping coffee, playing frisbee and more. Now the trend seems to be slowly coming to Warsaw and Targ Śniadaniowy (English for Breakfast Market) seems to be one of its signs.
Targ is a place where many Warsaw restaurants and small producers come to offer you the best quality food and some culinary workshops, books and preserves. Some restaurants (e.g. Dziki ryż and Siriana) have their stands there, you can also try great bread, buy fresh herbs and vegetables, homemade juices, cakes. There is, of course, coffee and tea sold from fashionable bike “stands”. You might eat your bought goods by tables covered with squared oilcloth.
Although you might say that many of these things you would rather consume for lunch or take home (preserves, meats, bread etc.), you will have to admit that the atmosphere is already somewhere near this Berlin vibe we all like so much, which makes this place a perfect space to enjoy our Saturday breakfasts. Thumbs up for Targ Śniadaniowy!
Due to the success of Targ its other new locations and times are: ul. Odyńca 6, Sun 08:00-16:00, Moczydło, behind the Olimpia Stadium, Sun 09:00-16:00 and the corner of ul. Klimczaka and Przyczółkowska, Sat 09:00-16:00, Sun 10:00-16.00. But don’t forget the first and original Targ.
