What I have been missing since I came back from Berlin to Warsaw is the relaxed way in which the Germans spend their weekends: sitting on the grass in parks, sipping coffee, playing frisbee and more. Now the trend seems to be slowly coming to Warsaw and Targ Śniadaniowy (English for Breakfast Market) seems to be one of its signs.
Targ is a place where many Warsaw restaurants and small producers come to offer you the best quality food and some culinary workshops, books and preserves. Some restaurants have their stands there, you can also try bread, buy fresh herbs and vegetables, homemade juices, cakes. There is, of course, coffee and tea sold from fashionable bike “stands”. You might eat your bought goods by tables covered with squared oilcloth.
Although you might say that many of these things you would rather consume for lunch or take home (preserves, meats, bread etc.), you will have to admit that the atmosphere is already somewhere near this Berlin vibe we all like so much, which makes this place a perfect space to enjoy our Saturday breakfasts.
