This is a come as you are place. You can leave the sport jacket at home. This is another go-to for when I have visitors in town. Located in the Cleveland park neighborhood in NW Washington and blocks from the Cleveland park metro.
This is a basement bar in the best kinda way. Kitschy but cool. It doesn’t try too hard. Atomic Billiards has cheap nightly drink specials. They have a 90s jukebox that still plays CDs and pool and shuffle board tables that you pay by the hour. Plus a couple old video arcade machines.
I love the neighborhood feel here. You don’t feel you are visiting. The single door in between a grocery store and an empty storefront with atomic billiards in neon lights is the only indication that you are in the right place. Plus the bar has a funky 1950s futuristic space vibe. It’s a far cry from bars in Dupont Circle further down Connecticut Ave.
