I was on my way home from work one night and noticed a small sign next to Chinatown Express restaurant (check the Chinatown Express article). At first I got excited because I thought it said ‘Beef and Beer’, which is one of my absolute favorite combinations in the world. As I came closer, I noticed the sign said ‘Beef and Bread’. Bread is another one of my favorite carbohydrates, so I decided this was acceptable. I peered in and saw a very small service area and some juice fountains towards the front. I found the setting to be a bit underwhelming, but it is clean and simple.
After two weeks of walking past the restaurant, I finally decided to commit and go in to see what it is all about. The specialties are roast beef sandwiches themed by different U.S cities/states. I decided to get “the Californian” because avocado, bacon, and jalapeños are the ultimate trifecta of toppings. After my first bite, I was in heaven. To be honest, I could have just shoved my face into a vat of the beef without the toppings or the bread for that matter. It was so good! I got a side of mac ‘n’ cheese and a chocolate peanut butter shake. Everything was amazing…and expensive, but I will definitely head back whenever my cravings for beef and bread continue.
