It is not easy to find a cheap meal in this town, especially when you include alcohol. However, Burger Tap and Shake (BTS) is an inexpensive burger joint with great happy hour deals. I originally fell in love with this spot because I can add a fried egg as a topping.
BTS offers a variety of signature burgers for $8, but my favorite is the $7 Buck Chuck. This burger includes lettuce, pickles, onion, tomato and their house made sauce. Additional toppings – like fried egg, of course! – can be added for a dollar each.
The burger spot also offers a burger of the month which often includes seasonal flavors. In October, you can order the Oktoberfest which features a beef patty, thick cut bologna, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and beer mustard.
As the name suggests, Burger Tap and Shake is also known for their shakes and shaketails with liquor added. However, since there are a variety of happy hour deals, I usually order a beer. They offer $5 beers Monday to Friday from 15:00 to 18:30, Monday to Saturday from 22:00 to close, and all-day Sunday.
Burger Tap and Shake has two locations: one in Tenleytown and one in Foggy Bottom.
