Being from Florida, I always have a need to be by the water. There’s something about sitting with friends, listening to the sounds and relaxing. Georgetown Waterfront is one of the best locations in the city to do all of the above.
There are plenty of restaurants like Sequoia and Nick’s Riverside Grill to grab a drink and sit under umbrellas soaking up the sunshine. If you keep walking down the river, you will get to a grassy area that gives you a gorgeous look at the John F. Kennedy Center. I love sitting here to watch the sunset with other locals. In the warmer months, there is a water feature for families and children to play in. I’ve also been known to run through it to cool off – it gets hot here in the summer!
There are usually ice-cream or street vendors around to grab a snack from while you are enjoying the grass between your toes and lying in the grass. For me, it’s the perfect location to end the weekend and decompress before the week starts. We are so lucky to have these pieces of heaven in the city.
