You don’t alway think “pizza” when you think DC, however, there are a few worth mentioning. Once of which is Ghibellina on 14th Street. The first draw to this gastropub in the warmer months indoor/outdoor patio. Once the doors open, the patio and the front bar become one to allow an open air dining/drinking experience. This is only magnified by their amazing happy hour: Wednesday through Sunday it begins at 15:00! It’s impossible to find weekend happy hours in the city so this is huge!
While you are sipping your $5 happy hour Prosecco and people watching along 14th Street, make sure you order one of their Neapolitan pizzas. Great for sharing, but I prefer my own Olive e Carciofi pizza. You won’t find any pre-cut pizzas here, every pizza comes with it’s own scissors to cut the perfect slice.
If you can’t make it for happy hour, be sure to stop by and try the rest of their amazing pizzas and Italian dishes. Local tip: bring your own mirror, the bathrooms have an antique finish that aren’t the best for checking your reflection.
