Although these are a ton of brunch options in Capitol Hill by Eastern Market and Barrack’s Row, many are packed on the weekends unless you make a reservation well in advance. This was the exact reason I decided to try Jimmy T’s one day when a friend was in town.
Hidden in a residential area on East Capitol St, Jimmy T’s is a great breakfast spot if you are looking for a cheap and quick place to eat. We did not have any trouble getting a table, and we were told to seat ourselves. The food is nothing fancy – they serve hot cakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, etc. However, the ambiance makes you feel like you have stepped back in time 50+ years. You will love the mismatched mugs, old school cash register, and friendly staff.
Insiders Tip: They take cash only. You won’t need more than $10-$15 tops with tip. Additionally, since they don’t take reservations, there is a chance you will have a short wait.
