There is no dearth of Ethiopian food in DC, but LeTena in Columbia Heights is taking a slightly different approach. Not quite fast casual, but not quite a full sit-down restaurant either: it’s somewhere in between. You walk in, order at the counter and then grab a table, where the food will come out.

Personally, I love the reasonable prices and the variety of freshly made dishes that are perfect for a single person, or the larger platters that can be shared for larger groups. The food itself is delicious too – the doro wat and the mushroom dishes are my favorites!

The space is also simple but comfortable, with lots of Ethiopian art and antiques on the walls – definitely have a look around while you are waiting on your food.

I also recommend getting the Ethiopian coffee at the end of your meal –  it is strong and delicious, and will be a fitting end to a fantastic meal!
