Raven Grill is a prohibition-era bar in Mount Pleasant. There are no martinis here. There is no cocktail menu. There are no sliders. This is an authentic part of DC. Any day of the week I find people from all corners of the world here. Raven Grill is a shot and a beer place. In fact, I can get a shot of whiskey and a can of Natty Boh for $7. They have a happy hour every night until 20:00.
There’s graffiti all over the walls, graffiti collected over decades from patrons – not recently stenciled on the walls. They have booths and tables for you and your friends. I personally prefer the tight booths as you fight over your friends on who’s going to get the next round.
I would recommend eating somewhere in Mount Pleasant before heading here. Raven only has chips and peanuts as bar snacks. Apparently many years ago they did have a kitchen but a remodel left them without a kitchen. So if you see any type of menu on Facebook, yelp etc., it’s from years ago.
The jukebox is filled with songs selected by the locals through the years.
Raven Grill is just Raven’s. There are no pretensions here. And I like it that way.
