North End Shaw is a newer neighborhood to DC, but it’s taking the city by storm. New retail, residential apartments, booming restaurants and killer cocktails. Nestled on the corner of Vermont and U Streets you will find the best and one of the most eclectic bars/restaurants in DC.
My favorite part of this bar is the decor and the inviting living room feel that reminds me of being in a family member’s house. After snagging a seat at the bar, I immediately ask what the punch of the day is. I’ve never turned it down nor been disappointed. And the basic $7 menu includes staples like an Old Fashioned, Mint Julep, Tom Collins and daiquiris, so it’s hard to go wrong here. If you are looking for something a little more crafty, keep flipping and find pages of expertly made cocktails.
The bar vibe can’t be beat, nor can the food. Their speciality? Fried chicken. Craft cocktails and fried chicken in a savory cone – a dream come true. For me, I prefer the mac and cheese with panko or the fried mozzarella balls, but no matter your selection, you won’t be disappointed.
