Smoke and Barrel in Adams Morgan is one of my favorite spots in the city for barbecue. The cozy and rustic decor creates the perfect summer grilling feel even in the winter. In the warmer months, the large windows are open, providing great views for people watching.
The restaurant offers lots of different meat options and an extensive beer and bourbon menu. Meat options include pulled pork, smoked sausage, and chicken but the brisket is the crowd favorite. There are also a wide variety of sides but be sure to try the jalapeno grits. I am generally not a fan of jalapenos or grits but I order this side dish every time I visit. You can order a plate with a meat and a side or sample lots of options with a platter than can feed 1, 2, or 4 people.
Smoke and Barrel is open for dinner 7 nights a week and also offers weekend brunch.
