The Fainting Goat – Neighborhood bistro

With a name like “The Fainting Goat”, this place has to be a fun spot, right? It sure is. A gastropub with lots of bar seating, well-priced and well-made cocktails, an uncomplicated menu and a cool looking restaurant with an awesome name.

My favorite spot here is the window facing busy U street – excellent for people watching. They have multiple bars – one on each level, so not everyone crowds around the main level bar on a busy weekend night. The space also has a nice warm feel to it, complete with dim lighting and great décor, which adds to the ambience.

They also have pork fries. Yes, pork fries. Definitely tasty and unique – they go great with a cocktail or one of the many beers available.

For me, it’s more a spot to go to for drinks and a quick bite or two, but many people do a full sit-down dinner as well.
