The Pig is an establishment on 14th street that I initially thought was a barbecue joint. I am not the biggest pork fan (don’t worry I think bacon is nature’s candy), but on the recommendation of a friend, I still went to check it out. It turns out that this is a restaurant that utilizes the entire pig, has down-home decor, but is not a barbecue place at all, they literally just serve pig in a variety of different ways. In addition, the servers are incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, which is insane since it changes daily.
Our server successfully convinced me to have parts of the pig that I didn’t even know people ate, like face bacon. There are also other shareable menu items such as bacon wrapped peaches and a charcuterie platter that is out of this world. To compliment the menu, they have incredible hand-crafted cocktails such as the “Old Major” which is a jalapeño margarita that had such a kick that even spicy fiends like myself need a minute to realize what flavor explosion just occurred.
The Pig is definitely a restaurant worth taking the time to check out. The staff are well-versed in the pig anatomy, the drinks are well-made, and the menu is so delicious, that it can turn even the biggest chicken lovers into a pork fan.
