Zagreb certainly has some nice parks that other Spotters have already written about, but I would like to add Art Park in the Upper City to that list.
If you are interested in coming here, the easiest way is to walk through Strossmeyer promenade until you see the yellow stairs dropping down on your left. What is so special about this park and why am I writing about it? Every place is special if you look at the right details. I am writing about the park because I was here a few times by myself; in peace, without any worries, just me and the sun above me. The place gave me peace that is hard to find in concrete jungles these days.
The park itself, with its small playground, is probably meant for kids, but it’s constantly occupied by grown-ups chilling, dating, drinking, having fun and goofing around. It has a few wooden benches but you can try to lie down on the grass on the small hill in the upper part of the park. The park is colorful and extravagant in a shy way, but it’s nice, especially around 12 o’clock when the sun is in the south, providing direct sunlight.
Maybe you’ll find your own piece of peace here, or maybe something else. Either way, this place is unpredictable.
Also, if you are interested, at the bottom of the park you’ll find the entrance to tunnel Grič.
