Strossmayer’s promenade is one of Zagreb’s most beautiful and romantic paths, situated in the Upper town, next to the Lotrščak tower. It’s pretty secluded, which usually makes it very special among younger couples or people who wish to enjoy each others company in peace and quiet.
However, these words don’t apply during Summer months, when the Summer festival is held. If you pass through the promenade during the day, you’ll find lots of charming arts and crafts stands and enjoy the view over the Lower town, but if you wish to go there during night time, you’re going to have difficulties passing through it at all.
Every night there are loads of people enjoying a good concert or a show, drinking from the bar stands, dancing, sitting on the benches (or floor), watching film projections, all in all – socializing.
Bear in mind that it gets unbelievably hot under the chestnut trees, so if you want to skip the hustle and still enjoy the atmosphere of the place, head directly to the less crowded area of the promenade, near a small film projection place, where you can lazily relax on the floor and engage in conversations with your travel companion(s).
