When I lived in Munich, going out for brunch was a main part of the weekend. We were hoping to continue that tradition in Zagreb, but we couldn’t find a place that served breakfast that consisted of more than croissants and coffee.

A month after we moved to Zagreb in 2017, Eggspress opened. I admit to being sceptical at first because the concept of a restaurant serving eggs only didn’t sound like something which would survive for too long in Croatia. Luckily, I was wrong.

Eggspress is the only place in Zagreb (so far) which serves breakfast food every day of the week (except Mondays) from 07:30 until 14:00. Eggs Benedict, poached eggs with salmon and spinach, various omelettes… if you’re craving eggs in any shape or form, you’ll be happy here.

Prices are slightly high for Croatian standards, but the portions are so generous that you won’t have to eat again for another 24 hours. Central location, great Instagram opportunities (if that’s what you’re into), dog-friendly, kid-friendly… Add a Mimosa (or two) to the mix and you might never want to leave.
