KSET club – For a great night out

If you’re done with sightseeing for the day and are looking for a place where you could hang out with your co-travelers, grab a drink (or two, or three…) and listen to some good music, I suggest you check out the KSET club.
Founded by students of electrical engineering and computing at the FER faculty in [...]

Vrući Burek – A burek a day keeps the doctor away!

I lied. A burek a day will probably get your blood vessels clogged in a matter of months and you’ll gain 20 pounds in no time. But (a crucial but) they’re irresistibly tasty so you can treat yourself with a fat burek once in a while, especially if you’ve been walking the whole day and [...]

Café Flores – Satisfy your good taste

When it comes to bars in Zagreb, great interior design doesn’t always mean good things on the menu. However, in Flores, a fancy café situated a couple of steps away from the Jelačić square, you can get both.
For me it means the best chocolate pie I’ve had in this city, plus pretty good coffee. What [...]

Stone gate – A place frozen in time

If you’re taking a walk around Upper town in Zagreb, there’s no chance you will miss this place. From outside, it looks like a simple passage, but you might want to stick around a while longer.
I’m talking about the Stone gate (Kamenita vrata in Croatian), the only remaining gate out of four that once connected [...]

Tvornica – Culture factory

Tvornica is a club/concert hall/coffee bar. During a day it is a regular coffee bar full of, mostly, students from the near by Faculty of Political Science. A couple of times a year some big shoe stores organise big sales in there.
But Tvornica didn’t earn its reputation by selling coffee or cheap shoes. Great concerts [...]

Bonita – Late night snack

Bonita is a nice sandwich bar only a minute away from the ban Jelačić square. It has really tasty, warm sandwiches (like mixed sandwich and Slavonian sandwich, my favorite), various salads, vegetarian fast food, refreshments. The prices range from kn 10.00 to kn 20.00. All food is “to go”, and during the week days from [...]

Pan Pek – Snacks all over the town

Bakeries are really popular in Zagreb and my absolute favorite chain is Pan Pek bakeries. Most of the bakeries here have pretty much the same offer. Pan Pek stands out in that area with various and unique “menus”, offering the usual products like bread, donuts, rolls, croissants, strudel… etc. But also delicious snacks like “shell” [...]

Saloon – The cult centre of a nightlife

From the 1970, when it was open, Saloon has been one of the most popular and prestigious clubs in Zagreb. Today it has a reputation of a cult center, and is a place where many people from public and social life gather. Saloon even has famous „godfathers”: every year some person from public life takes [...]

Zrin – The most charming bar in Zagreb

Zrin is a place you’re going to like the moment you step in it. This basement coffee bar/gallery is simply charming. The first thing you’ll like about Zrin is the fact that it is in the city centre, but it’s kind of hidden, and it’s definitely nothing like usual city -centre-coffee bars are.
The interior decoration [...]

Kolding – Chilling all day long

Kolding is one of the coffee bars that I always return to. It is in the very city centre, in the Berislavićeva street, but still, it is not a coffee bar that you go to just to be seen. You go there to enjoy yourself.
And the first thing you’ll enjoy when you come to Kolding [...]
