If you watched TV in the ’80s or ’90s, you surely know American sitcom “Cheers“, ‘a place where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came’. Well, in short, that’s what taphouse Horvati is like.

Coffee house Horvati was first opened all the way back in 1967. Not long ago, coffee house Horvati became taphouse Horvati. Besides the name, Horvati kept their original charm and friendly face of a bar where you will always meet someone you know as well as someone new, and the waiter will remember your favorite drink. On the inside, it is kind of small, but spacious enough if a larger group comes in.

Their new beer selection is amazing and if you are a true beer lover, this is the place to be. Here you can try almost every Croatian craft beer currently on the market, and trust me, the Croatian craft scene is getting bigger, better and stronger with each new small brewery opening. Some beers like Nova Runda are getting excellent reviews.

If you are just tea or coffee lover, don’t miss out on sipping your favorite hot beverage and watching life go by in a typical Zagreb neighborhood. My favorite thing is to come in the morning, when the whole place is filled with light and the smell of freshly ground coffee. When you stop by for a drink here in Horvati, you will feel like us locals do: relaxed and always surrounded by friendly faces.
