Following the trend of many European cities, Zagreb jumped on the train of turning old factory spaces into spots of arts and entertainment. One of these is the premises of the hydroisolation factory “Katran”. The factory itself is still running, on a smaller scale than before (crisis and all) so there was a lot of empty space waiting for someone to turn it into a productive environment. For a couple of years now, the “Katran” space has been the venue of many a great party – be it standard clubbing nights, corporate events or private parties etc.
The thing about Katran is that there is no official website for the space, no spokesperson to keep an eye out for, so it’s usually word of mouth advertising giving the events happening there a bit of an underground flare. Still, everyone somehow knows when and why they need to show up.
Although the crowd flocking to Katran is a mix – you’ll find everyone from corporate suits to students, advertising creatives and the usual mainstream crowd. Katran had fast become the “it” place in town.
The best way to find out what’s happening in the space, which is actually a mix of two clubbing entities: Museum Katran and Shock Show Industry and entrance is usually restricted only to attendees of official FB events, so make sure you click on that “Attend” button!
