Just a couple of years ago, RougeMarin was a word that was being whispered among the ardent burger lovers or if someone stumbled in the place by pure mistake. With the philosophy “less is more” they are a perfect exception that proves the rule of “location, location, location” in the food industry.
Situated in an abandoned light bulb factory on the border of the city, an area recently becoming increasingly gentrified, foodies from all over the place are attracted to RougeMarin like moths to a midnight lamp.
How did they manage to do it? By sticking to the other three rules of the restaurant business – quality, innovation and persistence. In a time when Zagreb was suffering from the lack of any proper burger, they were the first to occupy the niche by providing nothing but the best meat in the best buns with homemade ketchup and no compromises.
Today, the menu and the scope of business have expanded, but the quality still remains the king. Besides burgers now you can taste other unusual and original hip dishes, all ingredients homemade, with a simple but effective wine and beer list.
All in all – the whole experience is like a good burger – seemingly simple but requiring great mastery to bring it up to a par. And when it is prepared with passion for food – definitely a place not to be missed.
