The Beertija is part of a cafe/club that also serves delicious finger fast food. If this is not enough to make you want to visit, I’ll just add that they also have about 60 types of beer on the menu. If you’re still not convinced, its courtyard boasts (so far) 5 sculptures of rock’n’roll legends made by Croatian sculptors: John Lennon, The Ramones, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Strummer and Jack White. One could say that this place has it all for a healthy dose of rock’n’roll enjoyment.
What The Beertija has managed to create in the three-something years since its opening (together with the neighbouring Klub) is a quality place in town for all those who are looking to step away from the usual dance chart hits of mainstream dancefloors. This is certainly welcome in a place like Zagreb, which has a rich history of rock clubs of the ’80s which has unfortunately been a bit forgotten during the last two decades. However, it seems that the rise of the “alternative” scene is back on, supported by organizations such as Subkulturni centar (organizers of both Beertija and Klub).
So whether you’re in the mood for a beer, coffee, swaying along with the music, some great finger food (their mini hamburgers are among the better ones I’ve had) or for all of the above, this address is not to be missed!
