Big Ben Pub. When you hear the name, what do you think of? Does it wake associations, does there… ring a bell? (Sorry for the lousy pun). Well, it’s exactly that: A British pub. You have the TV’s with sport-channels on, you have pints, you have English, Guinness-drinking guys, the darts and a lot of indie and britpop music. So whether you’re a homesick Englishwoman or Englishman or if you’re just into the above mentioned things, you should give the Big Ben Pub a visit, the atmosphere is always great. Sometimes they even have live Bands playing, not regularly though. I should mention that there are actually two Big Ben Pubs in Zurich, but I’m writing about the one in the old industrial quarter, because I like it a bit better. If you plan on going out in the Niederdorf, the old town, there’s one too, the address is Niederdorfstrasse 52. Cheers mate! And another thing: Every Thursday Chris Black plays there. Who’s Chris Black? He’s a rocking one man band with a guitar and a Laptop which provides full band support: drums, bass and sometimes a second guitar. He’s slightly punkish and plays all kinds of rock classics, from Nirvana over Beatles, Doors, Oasis, the Killers and of course the Clash and Sex Pistols. He does a great job sounding like these bands (except for the cure, he doesn’t sound anything like the cure at all)! Details about this spot (Show on map)
