The times where the prototype vegan was a pale skinny guy with Birkenstocks and a wool sweater are over. If you need proof, check out the Elle’n’Belle, the Rock’n’Roll venue of Restaurants. You will be served by tattooed and pierced guys and girls with a rocking sense for fashion.
Vegan cuisine has conquered Zurich, and the Elle’n’Belle – opened by two sisters – is its flagship. It’s really well located, it’s almost always full, and the food is always fresh and delicious. It might change your view on plant based food, really.
If you don’t have enough time to sit down and eat, I can recommend the Dürüm Kebab (the “Daddy Cool”) to go. It’s based on Seitan and really tastes and feels like the meaty version – if you’re into that.
If you’re a parent with a little child, I can also warmly recommend this place for you. It has a corner with space and toys for kids. And there are almost always other parents or kids around – so the little one will easily find company.
