Josef is chilled, at times loud, and pretentious. It’s a bar, it’s a restaurant, it’s whatever you want to make of it.
It is one of my favorites. Their concept is fun, generous, but not demanding. The interior design is young and modern which pairs nicely with their fusion cuisine. The menu offers small main dishes that you can mix and match according to your hunger.
Meaning, you pick what you eat and how much you eat without compromising flavor. Their dishes are creative, daring and delicate. Fried beef cheeks with celery mash; blood sausage ravioli; octopus and braised fennel – do not stop reading now on me. They are cooked to perfection and worth a try.
Of course, there are also classic options ranging from beef tartar to red wine risotto. But you know, live a little. Here is your chance to experiment food you would not make at home every day.
Also, its subtle party atmosphere promises a trendy quiet evening or a wilder night if you want to hit the nearly located Langstrasse. But because no one is perfect, I must say that the fact that they are not very flexible with their weekend schedule can limit a visit.
However, nothing that cannot be overcome with a weeknight dinner after a hard day at work. My advice to you: pick a weeknight, reserve, find a friend, get a cocktail and design your meal according to your mood and hunger.
