As I write this review, I have freshly arrived in Hua Hin, Thailand. It is my first time here and my excitement for Thai food was my main reason to come. I know Thai food well and I have my favourite places in Zurich to splurge on it, but here – I thought – must be a 100 times better.
My first curry happened yesterday. I was finally trying the real deal. A green chicken curry with vegetables, coconut aroma and a refreshing touch of lemongrass. It was delicious and all you want in a curry, but the taste was familiar. Two days before my trip, I was at Lily’s and their chicken curry has nothing to envy this one.
Lily’s is one of my favourites spots for Asian flair in Zurich. They do not limit themselves to Thai food, but their curries are some of the best I have ever tried. Their green chicken curry is fresh, spicy and loaded with Thai vegetables and herbs that make you feel good about eating it. Another favourite one has to be Pakistani Lamb curry. A meaty curry slightly hotter than the rest, but on top of warm jasmine rice, as rich and hearty as a homemade stew cooked by your mom.
I will miss Hua Hin. However I will leave with the comfort of knowing that now I am able to speak well on behalf of my Lily’s chicken curry and recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Thai in the middle of Zurich.
