Amsterdam was late joining the coffee world. Of course, a cup of coffee has been in the country for quite a while now (the Dutch were even the first ones to bring the coffee plant with them during colonisation) but the scene with coffee to go and different filter coffees was new to the city.
Now, we caught up and coffee places are popping up everywhere. This little place in the East part of Amsterdam is well known. With a selection of filter coffees, good teas and a nice array of snacks to go with it, Coffee Bru is a good spot to take a breath, relax and have a good talk. The staff can tell you all about the coffees and the teas and can help you decide on which drink you’d like to drink. If you want to prepare your drink at home, some of their coffees and teas are available for purchase.
Many cafes and pubs will serve you a black fluid that doesn’t even come close to coffee but places like Coffee Bru show that the Dutch also know how to brew.
Note: take a coffee tour through the city and get the Koffieomfietskaart (10 coffee places in Amsterdam).
